Platonic Dreams (2023)
I have switched to wood panels as the support in this new series. This imparts a more organic look that strongly draws the eyes in. I am crafting these as abstractions first and foremost and with a greater emphasis on color. The current group and future groups will use common "background" themes (images which are seen through the clear cast acrylic models that I ultimately photograph) and are to include examples of each of the platonic solids.
All works on this page are UV-prints on shaped and painted wood pane,irregular shapes with approximately 20" maximum diameter. l

I am inspired by how, in nature, simple, repetitive units form complex, often networked, and even biomorphic structures. Intricate geometric forms and patterns are my starting points in exploring such processes. Appearances of and references to spatiality highlight the constructed nature of perception.
I like to incorporate unusual materials and have developed unique, multistep processes. The discovery of surprising and unfamiliar beauty guises is the central objective.
